We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join our fast-paced public affairs team. We are growing quickly, and the people who join now will shape what Charlesbye becomes. As a key member of our team, you will advise clients directly, own your accounts, and learn from a senior team drawn from Downing Street, national newsrooms, and winning political campaigns.
In this role you will:
- Deliver excellent day-to-day client service across a portfolio of accounts, drawing on deep knowledge of UK politics, parliament, the media and public affairs.
- Own client accounts end to end, from setting the strategy to making sure every commitment lands on time.
- Monitor political developments closely, reacting quickly to events with clear strategic insight and actionable advice.
- Use and develop your political and media network to help clients achieve their objectives.
- Produce high-quality written and verbal outputs, maintaining Charlesbye’s high standards of client delivery.
- Apply strong political judgement to advise clients operating in complex or sensitive environments.
- Generate ideas and see them through from concept to execution.
- Support and help develop junior team members, setting high standards and providing clear direction.
Candidate Specification:
- 5+ years experience working in a public affairs consultancy, an in-house public affairs environment, politics or the civil service.
- An excellent knowledge of the UK Government, politics, parliament, Whitehall and the media.
- Experience developing and delivering public affairs strategies, including navigating reputational, legislative or regulatory challenges.
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities under pressure.
- Strong political judgement, attention to detail and decisiveness.
- Exceptional written communication skills and confidence in advising clients verbally.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
- Energy, enthusiasm and a constant flow of ideas.
