Role Description
As a Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of plant and tool hire equipment, including telehandlers, excavators, access equipment, and generators.
You will carry out diagnostic work, identify faults, and complete mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Day-to-day tasks include performing routine servicing, completing maintenance records, preparing equipment for hire, and responding to breakdowns to minimize downtime for customers.
You will collaborate with depot colleagues to ensure equipment is presented to a high standard and that parts and tools are managed efficiently.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Nottingham.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical fitting skills with experience maintaining and repairing plant, construction, or heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems used in modern plant machinery.
- Ability to conduct fault-finding and diagnostics using appropriate tools, manuals, and manufacturer guidance.
- Commitment to safe working practices, including adherence to health and safety regulations and correct use of PPE.
- Good record-keeping skills for service logs, repair reports, and equipment inspection documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with depot staff and customers.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a similar discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Full, valid UK driving licence and flexibility to support occasional off-site call-outs or other depots as required.
- Previous experience in plant hire, construction, civil engineering, or related sectors is beneficial.
