Overview

The role of Junior Technologist - Footwear & Accessories is to support the technical development of footwear and accessories from concept through production, ensuring products meet quality, fit, performance, and compliance standards in line with the business strategy.

The role provides technical support to ensure all products comply with legal and accepted industry standards, and supports the approval process and quality management to exceed company expectations.

  • What You Will Be Doing
  • Provide technical support to the buying team and suppliers to develop a close working relationship.
  • Create and develop tech packs with technical information and specifications as required, ensuring suitability of product and supplier.
  • Collaborate with Design, Buying and suppliers to confirm material and component suitability for product end use.
  • Understand product costing and the implications of changes in product specifications on cost price.
  • Ensure all products meet relevant safety, legal, and compliance standards through risk assessments and testing tracking.
  • Support fit sessions and product reviews alongside Senior Technologists and the Buying team.
  • Record clear, concise fit comments and support communication with suppliers.
  • Ensure consistency of fit across size ranges.
  • Manage the production process with the team in weekly critical path meetings and arrange supplier visits where required.
  • Monitor returns and feedback (e. g., reviewer comments); provide technical support to the warehouse team.
  • What We Are Looking For
  • Previous internship or experience in footwear, accessories, or product technology.
  • Qualification in Footwear Technology, Product Development, Fashion Technology, or related field.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, finishing, and their implications on total lead times.
  • Understanding of supply chain issues, costs, lead times, flexibility, and supplier capability.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Comprehensive understanding of spec sheets, tech packs, fit comments, and quality control procedures including fabric composition and product construction.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to multi-task across projects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and independently manage workload.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify risks or issues and propose solutions.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for product.
