The Role

At Charles Tyrwhitt, our purpose is to “Make it easy for men to dress well”. This position works with the General Flagship Manager from our Jermyn Street team to support the General Manager in delivering exceptional performance across the store. The Deputy General Manager oversees the lower ground floor tailoring department and customer service area, partners with the Assistant Manager to ensure seamless shop floor and back‑of‑house operations, and leads teams to exceed KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the smooth running of the lower ground floor tailoring department and customer service area.
  • Partner with the Assistant Manager to ensure seamless shop floor and back‑of‑house operations.
  • Coach, develop, and empower the Jermyn Street management and store team to exceed KPIs and elevate commercial performance.
  • Manage controllable costs, operate within planned budgets, and support the General Manager in driving commercial opportunities.
  • Identify and maximise sales opportunities across promotions, outfit building, up‑selling, cross‑selling, and corporate activity.
  • Use data, trading insight, and market trends to proactively plan and implement interventions.
  • Champion best‑practice retail methods, share learnings across other locations, and maintain exemplary visual merchandising and store execution standards.
  • Cultivate a culture of exceptional customer service, ensuring team confidence in delivering the Charles Tyrwhitt experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous retail management experience in a high‑profile flagship store (preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a high‑performing team.
  • Track record of driving sales in a commercially driven environment.
  • Experience managing a large retail team.
  • Strong scheduling skills to maximise sales and reduce costs.
  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities with a clear long‑term vision.
  • Highly commercial mindset with strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience using data and trends to drive commercial decisions and optimise performance.
  • Stock management and loss prevention experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and retail systems.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship and customer management skills.
