Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and well-organised running of all yard operations. The Yard Manager will lead a team of 15+ staff, ensuring all processes are followed, targets are achieved, and high standards of health and safety are always maintained. The role includes coordinating collections and deliveries and working closely with other departments to support overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all yard operations, ensuring vehicles are unloaded, stored, prepared, and processed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate vehicle movements for further processing across multiple departments.
- Organise and manage collections of commodities and waste to ensure they are completed on schedule.
- Lead, manage, and support a team of 15+ staff, including daily task allocation and supervision.
- Monitor attendance, timekeeping, performance, manage holidays and sickness absence.
- Ensure all staff follow company processes and use systems accurately.
- Drive team performance to achieve daily and weekly targets and KPIs.
- Identify and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels, including recruitment, induction, and ongoing development.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment is safe, maintained, and fit for use.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across all yard areas.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety and environmental regulations, including safe systems of work and ensuring correct use of PPE.

Remuneration
- Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 (depending on experience).
- Hours: 42.50 hours per week.
- Working Pattern: To be agreed / Possible Shift Pattern.
