The Role

Loss adjusters play a critical role in assessing insurance claims by thoroughly investigating the circumstances, determining policy coverage, negotiating settlements, and authorising payments to the insured. Upon receiving a claim, your primary responsibility will be to investigate its legitimacy and assess whether the damage or loss falls under the insurance policy\’s coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive loss adjusting duties for all claims while enhancing skills to support other areas of loss adjusting as required. This includes:
    1. Receiving, acknowledging, and managing new instructions from clients.
    2. Carrying out site visits and meetings with insurers, reinsurers, brokers, claimants, insured parties, and other stakeholders, primarily in the UK with potential for European travel.
    3. Preparing detailed reports and email advisories, covering all aspects of the claim, including policy and contract reviews, and recommending appropriate next steps.
    4. Appointing, instructing, and overseeing third-party experts and other relevant professionals.
    5. Maintaining regular communication with all stakeholders, authorising and managing payments, and ensuring transparent and timely updates throughout the claim process.
    6. Calculating, negotiating, and finalising claim settlements, followed by preparing accurate final reports.
  2. Support and contribute to the effective marketing of Charles Taylor Adjusting by:
    1. Building and nurturing strong relationships with existing clients.
    2. Identifying and strategising approaches to potential new clients.
    3. Assisting colleagues in their marketing initiatives.
    4. Preparing and delivering professional presentations to clients.
    5. Participating in hosting and attending client-focused social events.
  3. Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.
  4. Demonstrate and champion Charles Taylor Values by ensuring Agility, Integrity, Care, Accountability, and Collaboration.

Required Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years of loss adjusting experience.
  • Ideally ACII qualified or keen to study for ACILA qualification (full support provided).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive.
