The Trainee Loss Adjuster will work closely with our Adjusters across the Specialty team in managing insurance claims from start to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the team to develop the existing business across Specialty, building new relationships and networks with clients both internally and externally.
  • Identify any key business development and marketing opportunities and, with support, manage these to successful conclusion.
  • Be an integral part to develop the Specialty market and brand profile both in the UK and worldwide.
  • Receive and acknowledge new claims, ensuring the manage and coordinate them in a timely and professional manner.
  • Undertake site visits and meet with Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, Claimants, Insureds and other interested parties.
  • Prepare reports commenting in detail on all aspects of the claim including legal and policy liability considerations, potential quantum and future actions.
  • Instruct and control surveyors, lawyers, forensic accountants and other experts as necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with all interested parties, calculating and approving interim payments, preparing interim reports and other communications.
  • Calculate and agree the settlement of claims and prepare accurate final reports.
  • Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Interest and enthusiasm in Specialty claims handling business, including Contingency & Entertainment.
  • Prior experience or exposure within Contingency & Entertainment, or a related field, is highly preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable approach to work is essential.
  • Ability to build professional relationships quickly.
  • Effective diary management.
  • Demonstrable attention to detail.
  • Strong organisation and IT skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Be confident and articulate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with conflicting demands.
