We are all about a common‑sense proposition built around attention to detail and speed of response whilst always putting the customer at the heart of everything we do. A can‑do approach fuels our speed of response from enquiry through to payment. Honesty and integrity are fundamental principles across the customer journey and the many long‑standing relationships we have cultivated are testament to our service levels and reliability.

Job Description

As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for providing the highest standards of underwriting of commercial mortgage applications across our secured bridging, buy‑to‑let and term lending products. You will ensure professional service is provided and stakeholder expectations are met by assessing risk, adhering to appropriate criteria and procedures and by being flexible and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage all cases from direct customers and introducer/stakeholder cohort, thereby delivering a high‑touch service which both enhances our reputation and increases future business flows.
  • Provide a rationale on each application ensuring that the loan is affordable, plausible and sustainable. Provide a mortgage offer to the applicant(s) within the agreed service level.
  • Proactively manage a pipeline of cases throughout an end‑to‑end process for both pre‑ and post‑offer, ensuring that information is proactively requested from brokers and third parties within agreed service level agreements.
  • To liaise directly with acting solicitors, obtaining the required completion documentation before ensuring funds are drawn down in line with the agreed completion dates.

Qualifications

  • Previous underwriting experience within the secured lending and commercial mortgage market.
  • Ability to make positive lending decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Experience of dealing with customers.
  • Experience of managing broker relationships.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Possess strong objection handling and problem‑solving skills.
