Job Description
Are you passionate about infrastructure automation, scripting, and cloud technologies? We\’re looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our ICT Systems Development team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone with a background in ICT support who\’s eager to develop a career in DevOps.
Working closely with our Lead DevOps Engineer, you\’ll gain hands-on experience in automating, deploying, and maintaining development and production environments across both cloud and on-premise platforms. You\’ll be supported through structured mentoring and real-world projects to build your skills in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and system monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and improvement of build and deployment pipelines.
- Assist in monitoring application and infrastructure performance.
- Help ensure environment consistency through automation and scripting.
- Learn and use tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins, and other CI/CD platforms.
- Shadow and assist with Infrastructure as Code using tools like ARM templates or Terraform.
- Write basic scripts to automate deployment and configuration tasks.
- Contribute to documentation of systems, processes, and configurations.
- Provide basic support for operational issues and deployment queries.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
- Build foundational knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure) and virtualised environments.
- Work towards understanding secure deployment practices and DevSecOps principles.
What We\’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in a 2nd line ICT support or similar infrastructure role.
- Exposure to enterprise infrastructure environments (servers, networks, virtualisation).
- Experience supporting Windows environments; some exposure to Linux is a plus.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Good understanding of Windows Server OS and networking fundamentals (DNS, firewalls, routing).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
Desirable:
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and version control tools (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates).
- Awareness of containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, AKS).
