Forming an integral part of the Private Client team, recognised as one of the leading teams globally, the Associate role will advise a range of UK clients on their succession and tax planning. This position will cover a period of family‑friendly leave for 12 months on a fixed‑term contract basis.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide practical and commercial legal advice to clients in a clear and succinct manner
- Manage a substantial and varied workload efficiently and cost‑effectively with supervision appropriate to the level of expertise
- Draft more complex documents with minimum instruction and supervision, making use of appropriate precedents
- Apply a commercial approach to research and evaluate relevance and accuracy in the delivery of advice
- Where appropriate, delegate, coordinate and supervise the work of more junior members of the team
- Actively participate in client marketing opportunities such as client seminars, presentations and pitches
- Identify client opportunities and take appropriate steps to follow through
- Contribute to group knowledge and know‑how initiatives
- Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, and Principles
Person Specification
- England and Wales qualified lawyer (or equivalent, such as CILEX) with 2+ years’ PQE
- In‑depth knowledge of domestic and international succession and tax planning
- A STEP qualification would be an advantage
- Demonstrate good judgement and a good legal and commercial understanding of clients’ particular needs
- Take a ‘hands‑on’ approach to managing own files and a broad case‑load
- High degree of attention to detail
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks
- Pro‑active team player, also highly self‑motivated and able to work on own initiative
- Ability to build rapport with clients and develop an effective working relationship
