We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to gain experience working in the Knowledge team of one ofthe UK’s leading firms.
Working as a Private Client and Central Knowledge Paralegal, reporting into one of our Private Client Knowledge Development Lawyers and our Knowledge Content Manager, this role supports our Private Client division and our Central Knowledge team.
Our Private Client division comprises UK & International Private Client, Family and Private Property and our Central Knowledge Team comprises the Associate Director of Knowledge, the Knowledge Content Manager (who has responsibility for Knowledge Systems and internal content) and a Central Knowledge Development Lawyer.
Although the role reports into designated Knowledge team members and are based in specific divisions of the Firm, on a day-to-day basis our Knowledge Paralegals work regularly with our Knowledge Leads, Knowledge Development Lawyers (KDLs) and other members of the Knowledge team from across the Firm.
The Knowledge team comprises a team of 19 practice area KDLs, the Central Knowledge team and the Research & Information Services team.
Each Knowledge Paralegal role has common core roles and responsibilities but there are some differences in emphasis across the different roles.
- Core Roles and Responsibilities
- Supporting KDLs with preparing and collating material for internal and external updates and maintaining/updating mailing lists for these updates
- Supporting KDLs with organising legal training and current awareness sessions, preparing materials for the sessions, distributing materials and recordings and arranging external speakers where applicable
- Collaborating with KDLs and fee earners on insights, articles and quick-reads on upcoming legal developments
- Reviewing/summarising news articles and posts for marketing purposes
- Curating external content for client relationship development for a group of key clients
- Supporting with co-ordination of cross-Practice Group horizon-scanning reports/ value-add offerings for clients
- Preparing a set of bespoke horizon scanning reports for a group of key clients
- Liaising with the legal technology team on legal tech and innovative projects
- Assisting KDLs with research tasks and pro bono work
- Liaising with fee-earners to gather contributions to Knowledge; and reviewing, categorising and redacting
- Collating and organising information for Regulatory/Compliance purposes (CQS) (currently undertaken by the LDR and CRED Knowledge Paralegal)
- Acting as the Knowledge point of contact for teams who do not have a dedicated KDL
- Supporting the Knowledge Content Manager with developing/organising/updating our Knowledge system (currently undertaken by the Private Client and Central Knowledge Paralegal) and all KDLs with organising and uploading content to our Knowledge system (all Knowledge Paralegals)
- Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, and Principles
Skills and experience
- Ideally has legal experience (including but not limited to law degree, CILEX, apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Ideally has experience working in professional services or administration
- Technical knowledge in using online research tools and standard business software (such as Microsoft Office, Sharepoint)
- Experience using platforms such as Practical Law and Lexis for legal research would be advantageous but is not essential
