The Client Development Manager will play an integral role in formulation and execution of BD & Marketing plans and campaigns for the Private Client division and relevant business groups. Working closely with and supporting the Senior Client Development Manager, this role will involve working directly with partners and fee earners from different offices on identified priorities, supporting them in progressing agreed actions and tracking progress and ROI. This role will also have a particular focus on the division\’s intermediary strategy.
The Client Development team supporting the Private Client Division is made up of a Senior Client Development Manager, two Client Development Managers and a Client Development Co-Ordinator. The team works closely with the wider CD, Marketing & Communications teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible for the day to day management, recording and reporting on the PC division intermediary relationships. This will include responsibility for keeping up to date relationship materials, key documents and sharing information to encourage wider collaboration and engagement within the PC division.
Supporting the SCDM on the implementation of the PC division strategic business plan by leading on some of its main objectives.
Support the SCDM on developing, reviewing and updating business planning and budgeting materials, participating in meetings, producing notes, amending documents and following up on action points
Keeping track of all the major case successes and developments, new clients and instructions and reporting back to the teams at regular team meetings. Ensure this is shared via appropriate communications channels in the PC division.
Supporting the SCDM on the targeting (\”pipeline\”) process as well as being responsible for leading on some of the relationship initiatives (e.g. PC key intermediary relationships and PC key clients)
Support the development of InterAction, our contact management system (e.g. mailing list cleansing) and be a \’champion\’ for the system within the rest of the firm and keeping the Intermediary mailing lists updated
Be a leading figure within the PC division (with all its constituent business groups) on the pitching process, from pre-pitch strategic discussion to document production and advice, including RFPs, credentials, statements of experience, client quotes/testimonials, basic research, partner and fee earner biographies and core factual/policy information. The CDM will be expected to be prepared to lead on pitch meetings and to tight deadlines with limited guidance.
Producing, distributing, analysing and reporting on digital newsletters, legal updates and other direct mailings, working with the CRM team.
Creating and maintaining internet and intranet content for the relevant business groups / service lines.
Working collaboratively with the CDM as required in coordinating the legal directories and award submissions process.
Working with the Digital Executive and Events team, helping plan, carry out, analyse and report on a variety of targeted events such as seminars, webinars, podcasts, workshops, receptions and other client hospitality.
Developing, populating, collating and reporting on key information for your sectors/services (rankings, quotes, testimonials, cases, successes, content, etc.), and ensuring they are stored in the relevant repositories (e.g. PitchPoint) and available quickly and easily for proposals, collateral etc.
Undertaking ad hoc research on markets, sectors, industries, organisations and individuals of relevance to specific business development initiatives in relation to private client.
Involvement and support on firm wide key project work and any other key BD deliverables for the senior management team (Director and Heads).
Skills and Experience
A proven track record of delivering/achieving results and targets to strict deadlines
Organisational ability within a pressurised environment
Experience in a legal environment crucial.
A motivated and responsive professional who is a quick learner and able to hit the ground running.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent attention to detail and highly proficient proof-reading skills.
A team-player mindset, demonstrating an ability to engage colleagues at every level in projects and initiatives
Able to adapt and respond at short notice.
IT savvy and computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of CRM systems (preferably InterAction) and PowerBI (preferred, not essential).
