Charles River Laboratories is looking to recruit for 4 x Assistant Inhalation Technicians for our Tranent, Edinburgh site on a permanent, full time basis. You'll be joining the Inhalation Sciences department, where you'll provide hands-on technical support on inhalation studies in rodents, dogs and primates. You'll be working alongside other scientific professionals to deliver on client projects that contribute to the development of innovative and life-saving therapies which impact patient lives globally!

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Participation in supporting the aerosol generation and characterisation aspect of studies - full, comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Assist with the handling, dosing and observation of animals, demonstrating proper consideration in ensuring animal welfare at all times.
  • Ensuring study notes are accurately noted and recorded in adherence to SOPs and company process.
  • Carry out general housekeeping and basic animal care duties as required.
  • Participation in overtime rota (weekends & weekday evenings) for which additional payments will be made.

Applicants must have:

  • Minimum 5 Scottish Nationals (must include English, Maths and a Science subject). Graduates with a degree in Life Sciences will also be considered.
  • A genuine interest in working with animals in a challenging scientific environment, any relevant inhalation experience in a laboratory based environment is highly advantageous.
  • Good communication skills and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to maintain accurate and legible laboratory records.

Candidates must have full, permanent and existing Right to Work in the UK as we are not able to provide sponsorship for these positions. Full training will be provided in this position. The salary for the role is £24,557.62 per annum + bonus + benefits. Please note that hourly rates vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
