We are delighted to be searching for a Maintenance Electrician to join the team within the Site Services Engineering department based in Tranent EH33 2NE. This role is to carry out Electrical Maintenance, repairs and installations under the direction of the Site Services Engineering Supervisor. This role is mainly based in Tranent, and covers Electrical maintenance requirements for our three sites across the Edinburgh area, based on a varied shift pattern including evenings and an on-call rotation.
The Ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting and will have as a minimum 18th Edition qualification, right to work in the UK, Full UK Drivers Licence and own transport. This opportunity is a permanent full-time role. We offer a salary of up to £43,000 per annum + on-call allowance.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Requirements- Qualified Electrician with a minimum of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and industry standard qualifications.
- Experience working as an Electrician, ideally in an industrial context.
- Full, clean driver’s license and your own transport.
- To be able to participate on a rotational basis in the emergency out of hours on-call system (eligible upon successful completion of the probationary period).
- Possesses a methodical approach to work, employing sound risk assessment techniques.
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders and have personable customer service skills.
- A collaborative mindset to effectively work with colleagues across all levels of the organisation and to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually.
- Capability to work to tight timeframes.
- Adopt a flexible response to changing priorities.
- Ability to comfortably work at height, work in potentially confined spaces.
- To be able to participate in overtime as is reasonably required to ensure the smooth running of the department.
- Electrical repair and maintenance service to Charles River Laboratories sites based over 3 sites around Edinburgh: Tranent, Elvingston and Riccarton.
- Installation of electrical and computer wiring and systems to IEE regulations.
- Portable appliance testing and maintenance of records.
- Maintain electrical equipment.
- Recording of data and management of work orders in the work order management system (Maximo).
- Advise staff on use of electrical apparatus and systems.
- Alter room environmental controls settings as directed by operational departments.
- Participate in Generator Testing and restart equipment.
- Liaise and make themselves familiar with Plant maintenance requirements (for on-call duties).
- Liaise with external vendor service engineers.
- Maintain necessary legible records of work carried out, both electronic and written.
- Fault finding and diagnostic testing.
- Work on high voltage equipment (if qualified).
Due to the nature of this role, you must also be able to work out with normal office hours, as required and as a member of a rotational on-call response team, for which an on-call allowance will be payable; own transport is essential for this.
Salary for this role is £43,000 per annum. You will also be expected to participate in the rotational on-call system upon successful completion of the probationary period. You will receive an on-call allowance, and the details of this will be provided to you once you commence in post.
