Job Overview
- Rota - 35 Hrs per week
- Monday - Thursday 8.00 am - 4.30 pm
- Friday 8.00 am - 1.00 pm
- Out of hours callouts - rostered - 1 in 4 weeks (Paid at additional rate)
- Please note due to nature of role flexibility surrounding core hours is essential.
Overall responsibility:
Steam Mechanical Engineer to operate, maintain, and repair site steam-based systems. To ensure high-pressure systems meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards (e.g., pressure vessel compliance).
Core Responsibilities
- System Maintenance: Performing planned and reactive maintenance on industrial boilers, steam pipework, and condensate systems.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all steam systems adhere to health, safety, and statutory requirements.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, and control issues within steam plants (e.g., steam traps, PRVs).
- System Optimisation: Improving efficiency and reliability of heating, cooling, and steam generation processes.
- Mechanical repairs and improvements to Company properties, both on a responsive basis and strategic basis.
- Mechanical tests and reports on company property and carry out the necessary repairs.
- Preventative planned maintenance and complete relevant job documentation.
- Respond to reactive work orders and complete, as necessary.
- Installation, repair, and modification of pipe work throughout site, both copper and iron.
- Responsible for the operation and daily testing of steam controls of site boilers (BOAS training can be provided).
- Responsible for the operation and upkeep of this site biomass boiler.
- Carry out feed water and boiler water analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
- At a minimum, City & Guilds Mechanical installation Steam qualification / or equivalent time served.
- Some IT literacy.
- Experience of working in a busy environment to tight deadlines.
- Maintaining Steam Boilers.
- Planned preventive maintenance HVAC.
- LTHW Boilers.
- Some controls experience.
- Good understanding of pressure system regulation.
- Installation experience.
- Fault finding.
