Permanent, onsite role located at the Chesterford Park site in Saffron Walden. Full and permanent Right to Work in the UK is required; sponsorship is not available.
What you’ll be doing:
- Culture and differentiate hES and iPS cells in line with client and project needs.
- Isolate and culture primary cells, generate recombinant cell lines, and prepare cell lines for high‑throughput screening projects.
- Apply contemporary cellular assay practices to troubleshoot assays.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of a variety of stem cell culture methods and transfer learnings between methods.
- Independently perform and optimize stem cell differentiation in 2D and/or 3D culture systems.
- Execute routine technical and non‑technical tasks with high competency and minimal supervision.
- Own workload to meet agreed deliverables and understand their impact on the team.
- Adhere to safe lab working policies and propose improvements for the workspace.
- Accurately report billable time and understand the financial impact across projects.
- Stay up to date with sector insights and share knowledge within the group.
- Recognize and identify solutions for technical problems of varying complexity and collaborate with managers/leadership to implement solutions.
Skills & Qualifications:
- MSc level in Biological Sciences or related discipline; a STEM cell/cell culture focus is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable experience isolating and culturing primary cells and recombinant cell lines for high‑throughput screening in industry (preferably from another CRO or biotech company).
- Significant hands‑on experience culturing and differentiating hES and iPS cells with outstanding aseptic technique.
- Experience working on drug discovery projects is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and present complex scientific data.
- Must be able to travel to the Chesterford Park site daily.
