Charles River Discovery are excited to be recruiting for an Associate Project Manager to join our High Peak, UK site on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role, with expectation to be onsite 4 days/week.
The Associate Project Manager will manage client accounts and other client programs that require complex planning and analysis to ensure that projects meet client expectations and deadlines. This is a great opportunity for someone to apply a strong scientific skillset to delivering client projects and driving progress.
What you’ll be doing:
- Organises, collects, prepares, and distributes project-related information required for the successful execution of client programs, from contract initiation through final reporting.
- Supports the coordination of project activities to ensure timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met, escalating risks and issues appropriately.
- Recommends and implements study management improvements.
- Applies CRL principles, concepts, practices, and standards with guidance. Demonstrates working knowledge of industry practice. Utilizes appropriate project management software.
- Assists in the management of a portfolio of projects, supporting project resourcing and monitoring progress against departmental and financial targets.
- Conducts project data review and assists in interpretation to support reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and decision-making.
- Contributes to problem solving for routine to moderately complex issues, referring to standard operating procedures, past precedents, and seeking input from senior staff when required.
- Develops an understanding of project management risks related to scope, timelines, resources, and budget, and supports mitigation activities as directed.
- Plans and prioritises own workload to meet project objectives and deadlines, working within defined procedures and guidance.
- Supports client communication activities, including preparation for meetings, status updates, and documentation, under the direction of senior project management or scientific leads.
- Collaborates effectively with internal teams to facilitate smooth project delivery and maintain a positive client experience.
- Supports client services and business development activities as required, including provision of project information and operational input.
- Complies with CRL site-based guidelines and quality systems. Identifies and reports project-related QMS events and supports resulting corrective and preventive actions.
- Shares learnings, standard practices, and process improvements within the team to support ongoing development.

Job Qualifications:
- Degree within a Biological Sciences/Biology/Molecular Biology or similar, MSc preferred is essential.
- Excellent presentation and/or client face skills ideally from a similar role.
- Some proven laboratory-based experience or additional experience in a client management role would be highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with internal/external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, time management skills and attention to detail essential to the role.
- Candidates must have full and permanent Right to Work in the UK as we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
