We are looking to expand our team of Animal Technicians at our world class facility here at Tranent. We are a progressive and close-knit team, working hard to ensure the safety of new medicines which target life threatening and debilitating diseases and especially proud of our contribution in developing the Covid-19 vaccines. We are passionate about our animals, striving to provide the best possible care with a culture of continuous improvement.
Candidates must have a passion for working with animals and share our commitment to their welfare. In this role you will perform routine and moderately complex animal husbandry and clinical observations in a regulatory compliant laboratory setting. You should have a minimum of 4 Nat 5 or equivalent qualifications. In return we provide all the training and support you need. A positive attitude with a good work ethic is essential, as we need reliable individuals with a good attendance record. This is a physically demanding role so you need to know you will be active and on your feet for most of the working day.
Here are some of the things you will be involved with as an Animal Technician:
- Husbandry duties / delivering essential care and well-being services to the animals
- Positive interaction with animals, including providing treats, fruits and vegetables
- Participating in animal training programmes
- Handling animals for procedures
- Performing physical environment cleanliness and upkeep and maintaining accurate records
- Documenting animal behaviours and activities
