We are recruiting a Manager, Veterinary and Training Services, to be based out of our site in Margate, this can be a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 / 3 days on site per week.
Joining us in this position gives you the chance to gain a variety of commerical experience across a global CRO network. It will broaden your understanding of our industry and offers strong career progression!
Main Tasks
Discharge statutory veterinary responsibilities by fulfilling the role of Named Veterinary Surgeon, to support internal and external customers with expert veterinary, technical and scientific advice and face to face training both individually and through collaborations with Veterinary Professional Services (VPS) and In Sourcing colleagues in EU and NA.
Assist in developing, arranging and delivering training for staff and customers as a service, working directly and with technical trainers and third-party consultants as required.
Assignments may involve work of a complex, commercial and confidential nature.
Support the quality system hosting audits, updating SOPs, and AAALAC Program Description.
Work as a member of the Animal Welfare Team and contribute to the AWERB.
Lead routine health and genetic monitoring and lead activities to ensure excellent biosecurity.
Support internal and external customers on clinical, scientific and technical matters.
Support Insourcing Solutions business through presenting training courses and consultancy.
Maintain relationships with trade associations, government, professional bodies and customers.
Propose solutions to enhance efficiency, operation and instill best practices, assisting facility managers to develop, evaluate, and conform to relevant SOPs.
Interact with clients to facilitate resolution of issues and provision of veterinary care.
Assist with design, production and enhancement of training courses for face to face or online delivery based on client needs, supporting a central catalogue of training material.
Maintain market leading knowledge of industry specific regulatory or other training needs and developments in training modalities.
Assist in production of business and strategic plans.
Serve as temporary backfill for Project Managers at small contract sites during leaves of absence, vacations, key personnel vacancies or new contract start-ups.
Perform biological risk assessments and develop programs to promote safe practices, procedures, and proper use of containment equipment for work with biological agents, materials, and toxins.
Also, review proposed incoming work involving biological agents, assign corresponding Risk Groups, ensure the site biosafety controls are in place for work, perform risk assessments, and ensure the necessary permits and licenses are obtained to perform work at the site.
Education: Doctoral degree (D.V.M./V.M.D.) from an accredited veterinary school or acceptable international equivalent in veterinary medicine.
Experience: Extensive direct experience in laboratory animal medicine and science; and proven experience in a commercial setting. Specialisation in training preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the UK and/or an EU country. Specialty certification by the American or European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine is preferred. Experience in completion of export certification advantageous.
Other: Excellent oral and written fluency in English required. Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking and the ability to deliver a technical presentation is required. Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills are require
