Are you an experienced Business Development professional looking for your next role? Do you have technical expertise in Biologics Testing and/or Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies? Charles River Laboratories are looking to recruit for a Business Development Manager to join their Biologics unit, specifically to oversee generating sales within Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) based solutions. This is an exciting role for an experienced Business Development person to join a global leader in this space. Working remotely (within the EU), you’ll have accountability for a specific territory, to reach quarterly and annual sales targets across new and existing accounts.

An expert in building relationships, you’ll cultivate and build strong collaborations across internal and external stakeholders to maintain Charles Rivers leading position in this industry. The role will involve up to 50% travel to client sites, conferences and networking events.

Job Description

  • Manage leads and opportunities (and provide accurate sales forecasts) via the company's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. Prior experience with SalesForce.com is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Identify new potential prospects and convert to new customers (target identification and decision makers) within the territory assigned.
  • Work to thoroughly understand customers’ needs and decision-making processes.
  • Create quotes and actively present to the customers.
  • Diligently follow up in a timely manner, work through objections, negotiate and close the business opportunity.
  • Prepare customer confidentiality agreements (CDAs) and Master Services Agreements (MSAs) and present them to the General Manager.
  • Answer commercial requests via phone, video conference or by email.
  • Create and execute an annual sales plan with updates based on the current organizational business strategy.
  • Participate in the definition of commercial and sales strategy.
  • Identify new potential markets for selling products, develop new profit and revenue streams, and develop lists of potential prospects.
  • Further development of existing customers within defined territory.
  • Represent Charles River Laboratories at conferences, workshops and other business events to strengthen Charles River’s reputation within the market.
  • Coordinate and carry out regular customer visits.
  • Evaluate future market considerations for bioproduction business and suggest changes to improve the company’s commercial offering.
  • Work with the science and technology team to assist in the development of Charles River’s offerings.
  • Support the development of promotional materials and marketing strategy.
  • Monitor the competition and provide feedback to Marketing and CCO on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in internal global sales events and meetings.

Requirements and Profile Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in a science discipline as a minimum.
  • Strong self-starter with a consultative selling approach.
  • Proven sales track record (5 to 10 years) in selling services to the pharmaceutical industry (including CDMO’s).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment as a part of a team whilst contributing to the development of business and processes.
  • Ability to work independently/remote.
  • Technical expertise in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
  • Experience in biologics with a thorough knowledge of bioprocessing including monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, oncolytic viruses, cell and gene therapy.
  • Experience/awareness of a GMP regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of industry practice in Quality Control testing environment.
  • Effective business communication, presentation and negotiation and leadership skills required with a science focus.
  • Analytical skills and strategic thinking.
  • Anticipates trends and future opportunities in the industry and develops proactive plans with communications to management leadership team.
  • Must be determined and focused on Goals and Objectives set by management team and achieve desired results.
