SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Staff Nurses and Lead Medical Assistant
PAY RANGE: Band F ($89,400 - $106,000/year)

As part of the dynamic team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare practice providing comprehensive and compassionate care to underserved communities, the Nurse Manager will help shape the future of primary care nursing at Charles River Community Health. These are exciting times for primary care nursing and CRCH understands the value of nursing as an integral and leading position in primary care. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for training, supervising, and supporting an energetic group of staff nurses and medical assistants. The Nurse Manager will also work with medical leadership to continue to define the future of nursing including improved workflows for care coordination, rolling out nurse education visits and much more. The Nurse Manager will work with patients and staff who are racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the Chief Clinical Officer, Associate Medical Director/Medical Director, and Associate Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing to ensure smooth patient flow and daily clinical operations at the sites.
- Demonstrates clinical leadership and serves as a resource to staff.
- Direct reports include RN’s and MA’s. Direct care areas include primary care, lab and health care satellite extensions.
- Guide, mentor, and train new staff (RN, MA’s) and ensure all staff have ongoing clinical support and in-services in order to stay up to date in their field.
- Ensure the team is ready for audits and inspections.
- Responsible for weekly schedule edits in response to any last-minute changes including changes in staffing ratios and sick calls and ensure appropriate Provider/Nurse/Medical Assistant ratios and coverage.
- Maintain nursing/medical assistant guidelines by writing, evaluating, and updating policies and procedures.
- Maintain nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing workflows, operational and personnel policies, and procedures.
- Site Vaccine Manager, overseeing, coordinating, and tracking vaccine inventory and vaccination rates.
- The Nurse Manager performs the role of the Registered Nurse in addition to management responsibilities as needed.
- The Nurse Manager performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Support continued staff development by completing annual evaluations.
- Work closely with HR on performance improvement plans and other personnel matters as needed.
- Manage inventory and purchasing of medical supplies for the essential functioning of the practice.
- Support the maintenance and functioning of the medical equipment to ensure a safe patient and staff environment while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and laws.
- In collaboration with the Associate Director of Nursing, work on recruitment and retention of our mission-driven staff.
- Contribute to the development of future nursing leaders by coordinating preceptorship for nursing students from area colleges and universities.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Perform other duties as required.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, TRAITS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing required, Master’s preferred.
- Licensed in Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse with 3+ years of experience in nursing with recent clinical experience in outpatient medical setting.
- Leadership experience preferred, including evaluation, performance management, and training.
- Must have demonstrated interpersonal, solid communication, and management skills.
- Continually updates clinical knowledge and skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.
- Must have knowledge of Ambulatory and clinical practices, workflows, and operations.
- Must work well independently, have sound decision-making skills and work effectively with and through inter-professional colleagues when required to make and facilitate complex decisions.
- Excellent communication and strong team player.
- Must exercise a high degree of professional judgment within scope of licensure.
- Experience in diverse culture preferred.
- Experience working with historically underserved populations preferred.
- Good communication skills, particularly with staff and patients from diverse cultures whose primary language is not English.
- Willingness to support training needs for students, internships, and preceptorship, as requested.
- Experience with Patient Centered Medical Home model and concepts preferred.
