The mission of Charles River Community Health (CRCH) is to partner with individuals and families so they can thrive and lead healthier lives by delivering the comprehensive, integrated, and equitable primary healthcare that matters most to them. The Medical Assistant will perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to keep the Medical Department running smoothly. The duties of Medical Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Taking medical histories and vital signs.
- Managing patient flow, faxing, prescription requests, inventory and stocking.
- Preparing instruments for use as well as any other duty assigned by supervisors.
- Coordinating unit flow and monitoring waiting area.
- Escorting patients to examination room, taking and recording patient history and vital signs.
- Performing and mounting electrocardiograms (EKGs), and 3 DERM.
- Obtaining urine and blood samples and running point of care testing.
- Preparing specimens for transport to outside lab.
- Providing lab coverage for all clinical patients.
- Performing vision and hearing tests.
- Recording information in charts as required.
- Ensuring that all required forms and screenings are distributed, completed, and entered correctly.
- Assisting Provider during examinations and in minor procedures.
- Acting as liaison during acute medical emergencies.
- Preparing, administering, and documenting vaccines for immunizations.
- Providing emotional support to patients during routine and emergency visits.
- Handling phone calls and booking appointments.
- Washing, wrapping, and preparing all instruments for sterilization.
- Assisting with daily cleaning of rooms, stocking and maintenance of all inventory and supplies.
- Participating in community outreach activities.
- Maintaining current patient education and referral information system.
- Participating in training and orienting of new staff.
- Attending and participating in team lead meetings and monthly staff meetings.
Your Qualifications, Competencies, Traits:
- Educational Medical Assistant Certificate required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS or CPR Certificate required.
- Must maintain current Medical Assistant certification to administer vaccines.
- Bilingual with strong written and oral communication skills in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to function in a changing environment.
- Experience in diverse culture preferred with strong commitment to promoting Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
