This is a senior, client‑facing consultancy role leading the design and delivery of evaluation projects across public‑sector and third‑sector organisations. You will manage a portfolio of complex evaluations, integrate multiple evidence sources, and provide clear, actionable insight that supports service improvement, policy development and organisational learning.
Key responsibilities- Evaluation delivery — Set up, manage and deliver evaluation and mixed‑methods projects across diverse policy and service areas.
- Theory‑based design — Lead the development of Theories of Change, logic models, evaluation frameworks, research questions and analytical approaches.
- Research planning — Translate evaluation frameworks into practical research plans, identifying methods, sampling, evidence sources, milestones and risks.
- Quantitative tools — Design questionnaires, measurement scales, monitoring frameworks and other quantitative instruments.
- Qualitative tools — Develop topic guides, interview schedules, focus group guides, observation frameworks and participatory methods.
- Workshop facilitation — Lead stakeholder and participant workshops, including Theory of Change sessions, learning workshops and findings presentations.
- Fieldwork oversight — Oversee qualitative and quantitative data collection, coordinating internal teams and external partners.
- Analysis & triangulation — Analyse and interpret mixed‑methods data, triangulating evidence to produce robust findings and recommendations.
- Reporting & insight — Produce high‑quality reports, executive summaries, case studies and presentations tailored to senior audiences.
- Client engagement — Present findings, respond to challenge confidently, and support clients in translating evidence into action.
- Quality assurance — Provide peer review, support continuous improvement and contribute to team development.
- Act as day‑to‑day lead for a portfolio of clients, managing plans, budgets, risks and progress.
- Build trusted client relationships through clear communication and responsive consultancy.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts.
- Lead multiple projects simultaneously with strong governance, documentation and risk management.
- Tender writing — Identify opportunities, write and price tenders, and pitch for new work.
- Contribute to annual sales targets and development of new service offerings.
- Support improvements to sales processes and promotional activity.
- Attend conferences, present papers and contribute to thought leadership.
- Over 5 years’ experience delivering evaluation projects end‑to‑end.
- Experience working with public‑sector or third‑sector clients.
- Strong capability in designing evaluation frameworks, logic models and Theories of Change.
- Skilled in both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Confident analysing data and translating evidence into clear narratives.
- Excellent client management, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and project management capability.
- Experience bidding and pitching for new work.
- Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel/Access).
- Commercial skills in developing leads and achieving sales targets.
- Behaviour change theory and models.
- Advanced analytical techniques (e.g., SROI, quasi‑experimental design, value for money).
- Economic evaluation.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends when required.
