A leading energy trading firm is seeking an experienced Intraday Power Trader to join their short-term trading desk, focused on GB and ISEM markets. The role involves optimising battery and other flexible generation assets in intraday and balancing markets, delivering commercial performance while supporting a 24/7 trading operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute intraday trading strategies across GB and ISEM markets, focusing on battery and flexible generation assets.
  • Utilise battery analytics and optimisation tools to maximise returns and manage asset-backed positions.
  • Monitor markets in real-time, including weekends and night periods, to identify trading opportunities and manage exposures.
  • Collaborate with the wider short-term trading team to support market-making, risk management, and optimisation activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of trading strategies, systems, and processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in intraday or short-term power trading in GB and/or ISEM markets.
  • Hands-on experience with battery storage optimisation or battery analytics.
  • Python experience.
  • Strong understanding of flexible generation assets and intraday market operations.
  • Ability to work weekends and night shifts as part of a 24/7 trading operation.
