Early Years Room Leaders required for a large friendly Nursery in Gosport. The Nursery can take up to 145 Children from 6 months to 5 years. The Room Leader position is an exciting role for someone who is passionate about childcare and working with a team to ensure the delivery of high-quality early years education. We can also offer Full time or part time hours. Part time hours being 7am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm.

Salary Information

  • £14.32 per hour
  • Approx. £29,786 per annum (40 hours)

Job Purpose

To lead the day-to-day operation of a designated nursery room, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early years education and care in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Room Leader is responsible for ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that supports children's development, while providing effective leadership and support to colleagues and maintaining compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and statutory requirements.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, support, and motivate staff within the room to maintain high standards of care and education.
  • Organise staff deployment effectively to meet statutory ratios and operational needs.
  • Support the induction, supervision, and ongoing development of staff, including identifying training needs (in partnership with the Nursery Manager).
  • Promote effective communication, teamwork, and a positive working culture.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating professionalism and best practice at all times.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (as defined by the Department for Education and meeting EYFS requirements)
  • Experience working in an early years setting
  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Awareness of inclusive practice and SEND support

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Additional training in safeguarding, SEND, or early years leadership
