Senior & Principal Process / Technical Safety Engineer based in Warrington or Aberdeen. Our client employs a world-leading team of engineers who deliver future-focused technology, testing, inspection, and safety & risk management, tackling complex projects across energy, process industry, utilities, aerospace, and transportation sectors. They are seeking talented and motivated people to join their successful safety and risk consultancy team.

The role will play a pivotal role in delivering effective assessments and expert advice to a diverse range of clients, including everything from Oil and Gas Operators to other major hazard industries worldwide. Their team boasts a rich heritage, pioneering cutting-edge risk management techniques since the 1970s. They have continuously developed their expertise and proprietary risk assessment software to enhance their consultancy services.
As a Senior Consultant, the role will primarily be desk-based, demanding a high level of numeracy and report-writing skills. However, the role also necessitates flexibility for travel, ensuring you deliver exceptional service to their international clients. Fueled by the ever-growing demand for their expertise, their safety and risk teams are experiencing growth. Requirements:
- The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and able to prioritise work.
- COMAH Safety Reports and Onshore QRAs experience.
- Some years of technical safety or process safety experience, preferably in a consultancy or at an operating company in the high-hazard industries.
- A good understanding of Quantitative Risk assessment techniques in general.
- Knowledge of the Offshore Safety Case and/or COMAH Safety Report requirements.
- Ability to identify and recommend appropriate risk controls to reduce risks to ALARP.
- Good problem-solving skills and is highly numerate.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Technical report writing ability.
- The ability to work reliably as a team player.
- A commercial/business focus.
- Occasional UK and International travel for Client/Site visits.
Ideally you will have the following:
- A good degree in engineering or science (a degree in chemical engineering or physics is highly desirable) with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Membership of a professional institution would be an advantage.
- Experience in leading Process Hazard Analysis workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, FMECA, Bowtie, etc.).
- Experience in the use of Quantitative Risk Analysis Software such as Phast and Safeti.
- Excel skills, Visual Basic, Python and C++ experience.
- Membership of a professional institution.
