The Role

We are hiring a Project Manager to own the delivery of our retainer programmes, spanning design and development for CRO and growth-focused Shopify brands. You will be responsible for ensuring every retainer is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standard, with teams aligned and commercial performance on track. This is a delivery role, not a client success role. We have a dedicated CS team who own relationships and growth conversations. Your focus is execution.

You will manage sprint cycles, scope work with clients, and act as the central point of coordination across design and development teams throughout the delivery lifecycle. You will bring Shopify expertise to every engagement, helping clients make smart, well-informed decisions about what to build and how to prioritise. This role sits at the intersection of delivery excellence, Shopify knowledge, and operational rigour. You will work closely with senior leadership to ensure our retainer delivery becomes a competitive advantage for Charle.

What You Will Own

  • Retainer Delivery
    • Own end-to-end delivery across active retainer accounts, ensuring sprints are scoped, scheduled, and executed to a high standard.
    • Lead scoping conversations with clients, translating briefs into clear, well-defined work that can be planned and priced accurately.
    • Build and maintain sprint plans with clear milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
    • Proactively identify and manage risks, blockers, and scope creep before they impact delivery quality or timelines.
  • Commercial and Operational Performance
    • Track retainer utilisation and profitability against budgeted hours and day rates.
    • Ensure accurate time tracking and resource allocation across all active retainers.
    • Flag commercial risks early and work with leadership to protect margins.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes, sprint templates, and tooling.
  • Client Communication During Delivery
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout active sprint delivery.
    • Set and manage expectations around timelines, deliverables, and feedback cycles.
    • Run sprint kick-offs, progress check-ins, and delivery reviews.
    • Work closely with the Customer Success team to ensure clean handoffs and a joined-up client experience — you own delivery, they own the relationship.
    • Ensure clients feel informed and confident throughout every sprint.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Coordinate daily with design and development teams to keep retainers moving.
    • Work closely with senior leadership on resource planning and capacity management.
    • Ensure briefs are clear, handoffs are clean, and teams have what they need to do their best work.
    • Provide feedback loops to leadership on delivery trends, efficiency opportunities, and process improvements.

Who We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of project management experience within a digital agency or ecommerce environment.
  • Experience managing ongoing retainer or sprint-based delivery, not just one-off project builds.
  • Solid understanding of Shopify, ideally across design and development, with the confidence to guide clients on platform decisions and prioritisation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple active retainers simultaneously.
  • Commercially aware with a clear understanding of budgets, utilisation, and retainer profitability.
  • Confident communicating with clients during delivery — able to set expectations, push back where needed, and keep things moving.
  • Detail-oriented and process-driven, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, ambitious agency environment.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com, Asana, or similar.
