As a Shop Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and inclusive environment while managing day-to-day shop operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth functioning of shops during trading hours, overseeing volunteer coverage across all seven days of the week to achieve targeted income. All aspects of the job specification are equally shared working as part of a team. You will work in both shops and have equal status, authority and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Exercise autonomy in managing shops, demonstrating strong leadership and independence to navigate the fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment. Delegate tasks effectively and provide ongoing training and support to team members, including the assistant manager, to ensure operational duties are efficiently handled.
  • Team Development: Recruit, onboard, and retain volunteers to build a high-performing team. Cultivate a positive and fulfilling volunteer experience, ensuring that each member feels valued and supported in their role. Promote diversity and equality within the shop team, reflecting the community we serve.
  • Customer Service: Lead by example in providing excellent customer service to shoppers, donors, and volunteers. Create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere in the shop, promoting positive relationships and behaviours among all stakeholders.
  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent the CPS brand through the shop, embodying its values of peaceful conflict resolution and community engagement. Uphold the organisation’s reputation by maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure that all shop operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and cash handling, are conducted efficiently and in compliance with organisational policies and procedures to ensure the shop is complaint and achieves its KPI’s and targeted income.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a retail management role, preferably in a charity shop environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Passion for the mission and values of the Centre for Peaceful Solutions.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic manager to make a meaningful impact within the community while contributing to the growth and success of Peaceful Solutions.

Starting salary of £28,000, rising to £30,000 after probationary period.
