Job Summary
Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL)/CDD Services, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, provides non‑clinical estates, facilities and procurement services across the Trust. We are recruiting a Porter/Driver to support clinical teams at Darlington Memorial Hospital by transporting patients, supplies and equipment within the site.
Responsibilities
- Provide efficient Portering and Transport service to patients, staff and visitors.
- Move patients and supplies within the hospital, ensuring safety and dignity.
- Maintain Portering and Transport equipment and ensure it is clean and stocked.
- Collect and deliver specimens, pharmacy items, notes and waste from ward to relevant departments.
- Sort and dispatch postal items (sort, frank mail, etc.).
- Assist with mortuary duties where required.
- Deliver supplies and transport medical gas cylinders.
- Respond to emergency procedures (fire, cardiac arrest, etc.).
- Move furniture and equipment when asked.
- Provide other related duties as required to support hospital operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; personal hygiene standards; proven ability to work without direct supervision.
- Desirable: Customer‑facing experience in a fast‑paced team; NVQ Level 2 customer care; full UK driving licence and proven driving experience; detailed understanding of hospital functions.

- National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) pension scheme – company contributes 3%.
- Night‑shift and bank‑holiday working allowances (where applicable).
- Flexible working patterns (shift, weekend, bank holiday) and possibility to work at other Trust sites.
- Provisional six‑month probation period.
