Job Summary
Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL)/CDD Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT). SCL/CDD Services provides non‑clinical Estates, Facilities and Procurement services to CDDFT. We are recruiting a conscientious, flexible, enthusiastic and customer‑focused individual to join our Portering and Transport Team at Darlington Memorial Hospital (DMH).
Porter/Drivers support the Trust’s clinical teams by moving patients and supplies within the DMH site. The role requires a smart appearance, strong communication skills, calmness in emergencies, the ability to take instructions and work independently, and a proven ability to work without direct supervision.
Full training will be provided for driving and hospital functions. The role is flexible with shift work, weekends, bank holidays and possible work at other Trust sites. A 6‑month probation period applies.

SCL is a separate legal entity from CDDFT, offering its own terms and conditions of employment. As an employee you will benefit from a competitive salary and the following:

Job Responsibilities
Provide a high‑quality Portering and Transport service as part of the CDD Services team, ensuring continuity of service while adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
Key duties include:
- Patient movement
- Transport of patients, supplies, specimens, pharmacy items, notes and other correctly packaged items
- Cleaning and maintaining portering/transport equipment
- Waste management/linen collection and delivery
- Postal duties (sort, frank mail, etc.)
- Mortuary duties
- Delivery of supplies
- Responding to and participating in emergency procedures (fire, cardiac arrest, etc.)
- Transporting and changing medical gas cylinders
- Assisting other staff when required (e.g., moving furniture and equipment)
Other appropriate duties may be assigned as required. Flexibility and cooperation are essential.
