The Department of ENT is seeking a substantive full‑time (10 PA) Consultant to join an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking department that has six substantive consultants. Each consultant has a specialist interest which they are happy to pursue. The department is involved in many exciting initiatives and is looking for an individual with appropriate specialist skills (thyroid disease) to complement the existing team and keep the service at the forefront of clinical excellence.
Main Duties
- Manage general ENT conditions with a special interest in thyroid surgery, including attendance at the Regional Thyroid MDT and compliance with MDT guidance.
- Provide ENT emergencies that are managed in a DGH.
- Involved in training specialist registrars, foundation doctors and GP trainees.
About the Department
We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham – and a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland. We also provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale, as well as more than 80 other community‑based settings and in patients' homes. - Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining) or CESR

- Ability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery

- Experience of teaching/training in clinical courses such as IMPACT Course, Faculty, ALS Instructor, ALERT Instructor
- Original peer‑reviewed research publication
