The maternity team at CDDFT is searching for a committed, dynamic and enthusiastic Community Midwife to join our Darlington and Newton Aycliffe community midwifery team based at Darlington Memorial Hospital. This Band 6 role involves providing holistic, research‑based maternity care, planning and evaluating individualised care plans, and delivering antenatal, postnatal and home birth services in a diverse urban and rural area.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans for women and families.
- Deliver antenatal and postnatal care, including continuity of care and support for vulnerable and isolated communities.
- Provide and manage a home birth service and work within the UNICEF framework for Infant Feeding.
- Collaborate with the wider maternity team, including the Community Matron, Public Health and Inequalities Matron, and the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team.
- Support professional development through induction, training, and CPD opportunities.
Qualifications
- Registered midwife with UK registration and valid NMC PIN.
- Band 6 NHS midwife experience preferred.
- Relevant CPD evidence and knowledge of the National Screening Programme.
Essential Skills & Knowledge

- Confident to work independently and reflect on practice.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Valid full UK driving licence (travel across Trust required).

- Evidence of ongoing professional development, NIPE Practitioner training, PMA qualification, or recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
