We are working with a small but global charity at the forefront of their field. With confirmed funding from a major donor for the next five years and projects spanning multiple continents, this is an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified accountant who is ready to step into a broad, hands‑on Financial Controller role.
About the Organisation
This is a complex but close‑knit not‑for‑profit with UK charity status and a small, high‑performing team based across the UK and internationally. They operate through a UK charity, a trading subsidiary, a second UK charity, and additional entities in Europe and branches in Australia, Chile, and Brazil. Despite the international reach, this is an organisation where people genuinely know each other and many of the team have been here for years. The working culture is collaborative, values‑driven and supportive.
The Role
Reporting to the new CFO, the Financial Controller will provide oversight of all financial operations across the group. While a small finance team is in place, the Financial Controller will be expected to review and adjust monthly management accounts, support budgeting and forecasting, prepare for audit, and ensure compliance with charity SORP and statutory reporting requirements. This isn’t a purely review‑based role. The organisation needs someone who is happy to get stuck into the detail. It’s a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute to something meaningful while enjoying varied, hands‑on work with an international flavour.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and adjust monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Prepare financial reports across multiple UK and international entities
- Lead on budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow and compliance
- Support financial strategy, audit preparation and donor reporting
- Work with senior leaders across the group to support financial decision‑making
- Line‑manage two direct reports and contribute to team development
About You
- A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) – essential
- Comfortable working across complex group structures with international activity
- Able to flex between strategic input and operational delivery
- Confident communicator and collaborative team player
- Experience with Sage and project‑based finance is desirable
- Charity sector experience is a plus but not essential
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working from Bracknell (ideally 3 days per week). Some occasional travel to the Bracknell office will be expected, particularly during onboarding or for key team meetings.
