Charity Recruit are delighted to be partnering with a growing and values-led Scottish charity/social enterprise as they look to appoint a new Head of Finance to join their senior leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially aware and people-focused finance leader who enjoys working within ambitious, purpose-driven organisations making a genuine difference. The organisation delivers services across multiple locations throughout Scotland and continues to grow through new funding streams, social investment opportunities and service development initiatives.

As Head of Finance, you'll play a key strategic role in helping shape sustainable growth whilst ensuring robust financial management across the organisation. Reporting into the CEO and working closely with the Board and senior leadership team, you'll lead on budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, audit, compliance, risk management and financial planning. You'll also support non-financial managers across the organisation, helping translate financial information into meaningful and practical insight. This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, can operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on when needed, and is comfortable working within an evolving and fast-paced charity environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the organisations financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Producing monthly management accounts and presenting financial insight to senior leadership and Trustees
  • Supporting funding applications, social investment opportunities and financial appraisals
  • Overseeing audit processes, compliance and risk registers
  • Managing and developing a small finance team
  • Supporting operational managers with budget monitoring and financial understanding
  • Helping drive long-term financial sustainability initiatives

The organisation has built a highly flexible and remote-friendly culture, with leadership team members based across Scotland. The role is expected to be around 3 days per week, though there is flexibility around how this is structured.

The successful candidate will likely bring:

  • Senior finance leadership experience within the charity, social enterprise or purpose-led sector
  • Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting expertise
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
  • A calm, resilient and solutions-focused approach
  • Experience supporting organisational growth, funding or change initiatives
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and mission-driven organisation where finance plays a genuinely strategic role in supporting impact and future growth.
