We're partnering with a respected and growing mental health charity to recruit a Head of Finance. Following a sustained period of growth, the organisation is looking for an experienced finance leader to strengthen financial governance, support strategic decision-making and help ensure long-term sustainability.

You'll lead a small finance team while remaining hands-on in delivering a high-quality finance function. You'll take responsibility for the overall financial health of the organisation, ensuring robust financial management, strong governance and compliance, whilst providing meaningful financial insight to support strategic decisions.

  • Leading the day-to-day finance function and managing a small finance team.
  • Producing accurate monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
  • Preparing statutory accounts and managing the annual audit process.
  • Monitoring cashflow, financial performance and organisational risk.
  • Developing and maintaining financial controls, policies and procedures.
  • Supporting funding applications with robust financial information and analysis.
  • Overseeing payroll and managing relationships with external finance providers.
  • Providing clear financial reporting and advice to senior leaders and Trustees.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and processes.

We're looking for a collaborative finance leader who enjoys working in a values-driven environment and can confidently balance strategic thinking with operational delivery.

A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) although this is not essential if you can demonstrate charity sector experience.

Significant senior finance experience, ideally within the charity, not-for-profit or public sector.

Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, statutory reporting and audit.

A thorough understanding of charity finance, including Charity SORP, fund accounting, restricted and unrestricted income.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues, senior leaders and Trustees.

Strong leadership skills with experience developing people and improving financial processes.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Head of Finance, Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Finance Business Partner, Finance Lead or Finance Director looking to join a purpose-driven organisation where they can combine strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational responsibility.

You'll already be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) with experience of leading financial management, budgeting, statutory reporting and audit. Experience within the charity, not-for-profit or public sector would be advantageous, although we also welcome applications from commercially experienced finance professionals who are passionate about making a positive social impact.

Whether you're already leading a finance function or you're an ambitious finance professional ready to take the next step into a senior leadership role, we'd love to hear from you.

This is more than a finance role. It's an opportunity to influence the future of a growing mental health charity that is making a genuine difference within its communities.

You'll join a supportive Senior Leadership Team, work alongside passionate colleagues and have the opportunity to shape financial strategy while improving systems, governance and long-term resilience.
