The predicted salary is between 30000 - 35000 £ per year.

Location: Warrington (fully onsite)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:30pm

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (pro rata)

We’re partnering with a vibrant and values-driven charity in Warrington, delivering meaningful day services and learning opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. With a beautiful heritage garden setting and a strong community presence, they’re now looking for a reliable, proactive finance professional to join their small team on a temporary basis – with the possibility of becoming permanent. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of the charity’s day-to-day finance function and genuinely make a difference to the lives of others.

Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing
    • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and journals
    • Process all income and expenditure, ensuring appropriate coding and cost allocation
    • Handle gift shop and coffee shop income, including daily takings and reconciliation
  • Invoicing & Income Tracking
    • Generate and manage monthly invoices to the local council based on learner ratios and support packages
    • Track income received and chase outstanding payments as required
    • Liaise with the external accountant regarding invoicing structure and templates
  • Payroll Support
    • Maintain accurate staff payroll records, including hours, sick pay, annual leave, and other entitlements
    • Cross-check payroll calculations against contracts
    • Liaise with the external accountant who runs the final payment and HMRC submissions
  • Financial Reporting & Forecasting
    • Produce simple monthly financial reports using Xero (revenue vs cost, departmental income, etc.)
    • Support budget forecasting and track against projections
    • Highlight one-off costs or funding spikes for discussion with the Director of Operations
  • Administrative & Compliance
    • Ensure financial processes align with charity sector regulations and internal controls
    • Support year-end preparation and audits
    • Assist with other administrative tasks as required by the SMT

About you

  • AAT-qualified (or equivalent) – essential
  • Proficient in Xero (including payroll module) – essential
  • Previous experience in a charity or not-for-profit setting – desirable
  • Comfortable working in a standalone finance role within a small team
  • Able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
  • Emotionally intelligent, level-headed, and open to feedback
