Charity People are partnering with a national charity to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for an immediate start. This is a temporary role to support during a period of leave.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative organisation at a pivotal stage in its finance systems journey. Having recently implemented a new finance system, the organisation is now focused on embedding processes, improving documentation and ensuring the finance function continues to operate smoothly during a period of transition.
The team is looking for an experienced and capable finance professional who can hit the ground running, provide operational leadership and support day-to-day financial management while helping develop sustainable ways of working.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare financial information ready for management accounts and accompanying commentary
- Support the day-to-day management of purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll and grant administration
- Provide hands-on support across the finance function during a busy period
- There is 1 direct report (Finance Officer)
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to promote best practice in financial processes
- Support the continued embedding of a recently implemented finance system
- Identify process or system issues and recommend practical solutions
- Contribute to the development of finance documentation and procedures
You will have:
- Significant finance management experience
- Previous charity sector finance experience
- Strong understanding of restricted and unrestricted funds
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting financial reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work independently and use initiative
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- Confidence working in a changing environment where processes are still evolving
Desirable experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong QBE candidates will also be considered
- Experience managing finance staff
- Experience supporting finance system implementations or post-implementation improvements
- Knowledge of iplicit or similar cloud-based finance systems
