Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity is seeking a Grant Governance Manager for a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is based in London/Hybrid with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office near Russell Square. The position is full-time with flexible working options, including 4 days considered (0.8). The salary is £46,674 (pro rata for part-time) and includes excellent benefits such as 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, a flexible approach to working arrangements, access to an enhanced pension scheme, life assurance, health and wellbeing schemes, and an employee assistance programme.
As a grant management professional, you will have experience in research governance, managing committees, and continuously developing, implementing, and improving grant management processes. The Grant Governance Manager will oversee business-critical grant operations within the Grant Funding team, ensuring robust decision-making and effective processes to select and award impactful projects and programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Governance and Compliance: Lead long-range grant governance planning, oversee committees, review and refresh policies, ensure compliance with required standards, and manage external audits.
- Grant Finances and Budgeting: Support setting and monitoring charitable expenditure and Grant Funding team budget, approve invoices, and maintain strong relationships with finance leads.
- Grant Funding Team Operations: Support delivery of team business plans, implement KPIs for good grant management, and ensure effective support across the full grant lifecycle.
- Grant Processes and Systems: Oversee grant processes from pre- to post-award, lead continuous review and improvements, and ensure accurate data storage and reporting.
- Grant Management: Ensure good processes for grant funding elements of restricted funding and oversee accurate grant data to external partners.
- Line Management and Leadership: Deputise for senior leaders as required, line manage two Grants Operations Officers, and build relationships with stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in research and grants management, including project management and supporting high-level committees. You should be highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships across scientific, clinical, and research communities. A good understanding of charity sector fundraising, the UK medical research landscape, and the complexities of NHS-based research is desirable.
