We are seeking enthusiastic Mentors with strategic management experience at CEO type level in any sector who can help us provide FREE mentoring to other charities in need of support.
What difference will you make? You will have first-hand opportunity to make a difference to charities, CICs, and not-for-profit organisations across Kent and Medway. Our charity model allows direct support through strategic mentoring across a varied and interesting mix of requirements. Your mentoring will support our vision of vibrant charities and not-for-profit social organisations throughout Kent and Medway, producing excellent outcomes led by confident leaders with clear strategic purpose. You will enable our mission to provide these leaders with FREE, high-quality mentoring and support for strategic thinking, so that they are empowered to improve the resilience, efficiency, and social impact of their organisations.
What are we looking for?
- Strategic Management experience
- Will typically have held CEO type roles
- Overall responsibility for organisational strategy
- Working with or knowledge of the voluntary sector
- Mentoring / coaching / being alongside / enabling others
- Ability to work to goals and deadlines
- Availability to support our customers on short-term 6 month projects and attend at least 2 of our 4 annual meetings
- Provide feedback as required
- Acceptance to offer help on a pro bono basis
What will you be doing? Our Mentors are senior leaders with strategic management experience in any sector and ideally have some knowledge of the particular challenges currently faced by the voluntary sector.
- Management/strategy and will have held CEO-type roles with an overall responsibility for organisational strategy
- Working in or with the voluntary sector
- Mentoring/coaching, being alongside and/or enabling
Our Mentors should be able and willing to operate within the Charity Mentors model, including:
- Working to project aims (short-term, strategic, specific goals)
- Attending at least two of the four annual mentor meetings (two of which are held virtually)
- Being in a position to respond to emails in a timely fashion
- Providing feedback at the end of the mentoring project, and submitting progress reports as required
- Offering help on a pro bono basis
- The ability to complete at least one mentoring project and commence at least two mentoring projects in a year
We are looking for a spread in terms of specific experience, skills and interests to ensure that we have the capacity to meet different needs. We are seeking individuals who might not otherwise be accessible to Mentees and who are willing to work with a range of organisations across different sectors and of different sizes (small to large). Our Mentors should ideally live within Kent and Medway as this is the area we serve.
