The Role

Future Frontiers is seeking a Philanthropy Manager to help grow and strengthen its income from charitable trusts and foundations. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the successful candidate will play a key role in securing funding that enables the organization to expand its impact and support more young people. This position combines strategic fundraising, relationship management, prospect research, and persuasive grant writing. The role requires an experienced fundraiser with exceptional written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trust and Foundation Fundraising
    • Develop compelling funding applications, proposals, and reports for charitable trusts and foundations
    • Translate program outcomes and impact data into persuasive funding narratives
    • Ensure all submissions are accurate, tailored, and delivered to a high standard
    • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information, stories, and evidence for applications
  • Donor Engagement and Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with trust and foundation funders
    • Deliver thoughtful stewardship activities that encourage long-term support
    • Identify opportunities for renewed and increased funding
    • Act as an ambassador for Future Frontiers and deepen supporter engagement
  • Prospect Research and Pipeline Development
    • Research and identify new funding opportunities
    • Develop tailored engagement approaches for prospective funders
    • Support the growth of a sustainable funding pipeline
    • Monitor funding trends and opportunities relevant to the organization
  • Impact Storytelling and Organizational Support
    • Gather case studies and testimonials from program participants
    • Attend program sessions and engage directly with young people when required
    • Support wider fundraising and supporter engagement activities
    • Maintain accurate records of fundraising activity and reporting deadlines
    • Ensure compliance with GDPR and fundraising regulations
    • Contribute to cross-team projects and organizational initiatives

Requirements

  • Experience independently securing high four-figure or five-figure grants from charitable trusts and foundations
  • Proven success developing funding applications and reports
  • Experience managing funder relationships and stewardship activities
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
  • Experience researching and identifying prospective funders
