New Economics Foundation (NEF) is a UK-based think tank working to redesign the economy so it serves people and the planet. Through research, advocacy, and practical policy solutions, NEF addresses social inequality, environmental sustainability, and economic justice. The organization fosters a collaborative, mission-driven culture where staff contribute to meaningful systemic change.

NEF is hiring a full-time HR & Operations Coordinator to support both people management and day-to-day organizational operations. Reporting to the Head of People and Organisational Development, this role is central to maintaining strong HR administration while also contributing to the smooth functioning of the wider operations team. Working four days per week in the London office under NEF’s shorter working week model (32 hours), the role suits someone highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and timely HR administrative support across the employee lifecycle
  • Assist in maintaining effective HR systems, records, and documentation
  • Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures
  • Help foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive workplace culture
  • Provide operational support across teams including finance, IT, fundraising, and project management when needed
  • Assist with internal coordination and cross-team projects
  • Respond flexibly to emerging organizational needs
  • Contribute to improving internal processes and workflows

Requirements

  • Previous experience in HR administration is essential
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced setting
