The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK is the professional membership body for Sport and Exercise Medicine in the UK. The organization works to advance education, clinical standards, research, and public understanding of sport and exercise medicine while supporting healthcare professionals, patients, and policymakers through evidence-based resources, professional guidance, and advocacy initiatives.
This opportunity focuses on leading and delivering communications and marketing activity across the Faculty’s programmes, publications, digital channels, and stakeholder engagement work. Working within a small but ambitious team, the Communications and Marketing Officer will help shape how the organization connects with healthcare professionals, policy makers, partners, members, and the wider public.
The successful candidate will manage communications projects independently, support cross-departmental promotional activity, and oversee marketing campaigns for major initiatives including Moving Medicine, examinations, educational programmes, awards activities, and Faculty events.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of FSEM’s communications strategy
- Produce written content for websites, newsletters, digital channels, announcements, and policy communications
- Draft and coordinate publications, reports, guidance documents, and position statements
- Support committees and working groups in developing clear and consistent professional content
- Draft speeches, blogs, statements, and briefings for senior officers
Donor Engagement and Major Gifts
- Plan and deliver marketing campaigns for Moving Medicine, examinations, membership, awards, and educational activities
- Produce promotional materials including social media graphics, digital assets, and campaign copy
- Manage campaign schedules, stakeholder contributions, and delivery timelines
- Ensure all communications and marketing align with FSEM brand standards and organizational values
Campaign Culture and Ecosystem Building
- Maintain and improve FSEM’s website and digital communication channels
- Apply SEO best practices and use analytics to improve audience engagement
- Monitor sector developments to identify communications opportunities and reputational risks
- Collaborate with departments, committees, and project teams across the organization
- Support the planning and delivery of Faculty events including the Awards Ceremony
- Represent FSEM at meetings, collaborative activities, and sector events
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
