Do you want to lend with purpose? With CAF’s social investment team you’ll be responsible for the origination, assessment and management of loans to charities and social enterprises, strengthening their resilience and enabling greater social impact. You’ll identify and showcase effective models of impact, actively manage portfolio risk and steward philanthropic capital by aligning funders’ goals with the needs of social purpose organisations, working together with colleagues to drive meaningful change.
What you’ll do:
- Evaluate loan applications from charities, social enterprises and community groups seeking to scale their social impact through repayable finance and strengthen organisational resilience.
- Lead the due diligence process for new social investment opportunities, including site visits, financial and impact analysis, peer reviews and the preparation of high-quality recommendations to the Impact Committee; ensuring social impact objectives and financial risk are appropriately balanced, supported by robust sensitivity analysis.
- Track, monitor and oversee a proportion of the social investment portfolio, proactively monitoring social impact, financial performance and risk profile, refreshing due diligence, and preparing loan variations where required.
- Drive repeat investments and contribute to the development of new investment opportunities.
- Provide support and advice to social purpose organisations, where appropriate, within wider CAF programmes building organisational resilience.
- Monitor and evaluate the social impact of the investment portfolio, identifying compelling case studies to support fundraising and stakeholder engagement.

This role is for you if you have experience of working in a financial, business or charity environment or have relevant transferable skills and are keen to make a difference to society.

- A strong track record of lending, assessing financial data, or grant-making.
- A good understanding of impact-focused social investment.

- A proven ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise accordingly.
