Lead and inspire the next chapter of CHIPS (Christian International Peace Service), bringing peace, reconciliation and hope to communities worldwide.

  • Job Title: Director
  • Contract & Hours: One-year fixed term (with the expectation of extension, depending on funding). Full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (minimum 28 hours per week / 80% FTE)
  • Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 per annum (FTE)
  • Location: Hybrid/Brixton (4 days on-site per month), with 2–3 weeks of international travel per year

CHIPS (Christian International Peace Service) is an international charity that aims to bring about peace and reconciliation in areas of conflict or tension. With 60 years' experience helping communities in the UK, Cyprus, India, the Philippines, Northern Ireland and Uganda, its current work is focused in Brixton, London, and across more than 18 communities in Northern Ghana. Rooted in Jesus' example of peace and reconciliation, CHIPS goes where it is invited, lives in the heart of the conflict, takes sides – both sides – and commits for the long term.

Building on the success of its 60th anniversary, CHIPS is looking for an experienced, caring and enthusiastic Director to lead the organisation and continue its growth from a small to a mid-size charity. Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, you'll lead the implementation of CHIPS' five-year strategy, oversee programmes and project teams in the UK and Ghana, secure the funding to deliver that growth, and provide authentic Christian leadership across the organisation. This is a special moment to join, as CHIPS actively explores new activities and responds to invitations to work in new places.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the delivery of CHIPS' five-year strategy to 2030, translating vision into clear priorities and shaping the next strategy in the years ahead.
  • Provide strategic oversight of programmes in Brixton and Northern Ghana, line managing project leaders and ensuring the work is needs-led, evidence-based and rooted in CHIPS' distinctive approach to peacemaking.
  • Grow and diversify income alongside the Fundraising and Communications Officer, across trusts and foundations, major donors, churches, corporate partnerships and CHIPS' corporate training pathway.
  • Oversee financial management, governance and compliance, working closely with the Treasurer and Board of Trustees, and serving as CHIPS' Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Represent CHIPS as a key ambassador and spokesperson, building strategic partnerships with churches, funders, programme partners and peacebuilding networks.
  • Nurture a culture that reflects the example of Jesus, leading prayer and spiritual reflection while ensuring CHIPS remains welcoming and respectful of people of all faiths and none.

If you're a strategic, relational leader with a track record of organisational growth and fundraising, strong cross-cultural awareness and a heart for peacemaking, justice and standing with marginalised communities, we'd love to hear from you.

Benefits?

  • 33 days' annual leave (including public holidays), plus additional leave for length of service
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Flexible working – full-time or part-time (minimum 28 hours per week), with hybrid working
  • International travel to see CHIPS' work firsthand (2–3 weeks per year)
  • A small, supportive organisation that welcomes new ideas and invests in its people
  • A pivotal leadership role at an exciting stage of growth, following CHIPS' 60th anniversary
