We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to join our Enhanced Supervision Team at Charing Cross Hospital. As an essential member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, holistic, patient-centred care. Working under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Midwife, or Nurse Associate (RNA), you will support the delivery of care for patients requiring additional monitoring and supervision—either on a 1:1 basis or within a co-horted bay. This role is fundamental in ensuring the safety, comfort, and dignity of some of our most vulnerable patients.

Person specification

Education/qualifications

  • Essential criteria: Completed Care Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and communication skills in English to carry out the duties of the role (known as functional skills), or GCSE or equivalent experience.
  • Bedside Emergency Assessment Course for HCA's (BEACH) or willingness to undertake.

Desirable criteria

  • Further qualifications and training relevant and required by the speciality of this post.
  • Level 2 or 3 Health Care qualification/apprenticeship, or completion of Band 3 Excellence in Care Competencies for existing Band 2 substantive HCSW.

Experience/Skills

  • Essential criteria: Experience of working in Acute Hospital setting or care background, in a Band 2 HCSW role or equivalent.
  • Experience of delivering personal care to patients.
  • Experience of using computers or willing to undertake training in local computer systems.
  • Knowledge of basic IT systems or willing to undertake training.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of taking clinical observations.
  • Awareness of changing agenda within NHS.
  • Previous experience of complex health needs.
  • Competently perform a range of the core skills relevant to the area of speciality.
