Role
Part‑time Safeguarding Officer at Wrotham School, working 16–20 hours per week mainly 10‑2pm.
Responsibilities
- Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in managing safeguarding and child protection cases.
- Manage referrals and liaise with Children’s Social Care, Early Help, the Police and other external agencies.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely safeguarding records using the school’s safeguarding systems.
- Monitor the wellbeing of vulnerable students and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Attend safeguarding meetings, strategy discussions and multi‑agency meetings where appropriate.
- Work closely with pastoral teams to ensure students receive the necessary support.
- Help promote a strong safeguarding culture across the school.
- Contribute to safeguarding training and awareness for staff where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Experience working within safeguarding, child protection or a related field.
- Sound understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and current safeguarding legislation.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.
- Resilience, calm under pressure and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to ensuring every child is safe and supported.
