Position Overview
We are looking for a Head of Software to lead, grow, and inspire our engineering organisation. This is not just a technical role — it\’s a leadership position with responsibility for shaping team culture, scaling capabilities, and influencing across the business during an era of growth and diversification for both and the wider industry.
Collaborating closely with the Head of Product, you\’ll co-own the vision, delivery, and continuous improvement of our software platform while ensuring it remains secure, scalable, and commercially aligned.
You will manage a team of around 10 people, with three team leads reporting directly to you. This means balancing strategic oversight, coaching and developing leaders, while also staying close enough to the teams to ensure strong execution. This role reports to the CTO.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Engineering Leadership: Set direction, create clarity, and inspire the team with a strong vision for how engineering contributes to \’s mission.
- Build and Develop Product Teams: Recruit, coach, and mentor engineers, fostering a \”product mindset\” and a collaborative and inclusive environment where people can grow and do their best work.
- Enable Delivery at Scale: Ensure the platform is reliable, performant, and delivered to a high standard, balancing speed with long-term sustainability.
- Influence and Collaborate: Act as a bridge between engineering and the wider business — working closely with Product, Design, Driver Support, and Field Services — and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Champion Best Practice: Drive standards in testing, security, documentation, and incident management, and ensure we maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Support engineers at all levels to develop their skills, confidence, and leadership potential.
- Commercial Awareness: Balance technical ambition with business goals, ensuring engineering efforts deliver measurable value.
- Innovation and Efficiency: Explore new technologies and practices, including the use of AI to improve developer productivity and platform efficiency.
