We have raised $25m to date, partner with some of the world’s largest and most complex enterprises (Fortune 500 and equivalent), and are currently growing our team from approximately 30 to 60 employees.
Location: London
Working pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week in a central London office)
We are seeking an exceptional People & Culture Manager to build the foundations of our People & HR function as we scale. This person will own, design, and implement the core systems, processes, and routines that make onboarding, performance, and employee experience work smoothly in a fast-moving start-up environment as we build a world class team and culture. This presents a fantastic opportunity to play an integral role in building out the People function from an early stage and accelerate your development as a key leader as we continue to grow.
YOU WILL
- Build the People operating system from the ground up: policies, templates, playbooks, and repeatable workflows that scale.
- Implement and run People Ops: contracts, onboarding/offboarding, HR administration, documentation, and maintaining clean employee records.
- Stand up and improve tools and data: select/implement/manage HRIS (or optimize what’s already in place), define People metrics, and build lightweight high-fidelity reporting.
- Drive a high-performance culture and establish rituals that create clarity: performance conversations, goal-setting, feedback cycles, and lead enablement.
- Support compensation and benefits: coordinate salary review cycles, support benchmarking and banding, and ensure benefits processes are clear and smooth for employees.
- Handle employee relations pragmatically and fairly: issues triage, conflict resolution, and maintaining a high-trust environment with consistent standards.
- Be the “go-to” operator for People and embody and reinforce Natter’s cultural values and behaviours.
YOU BRING
- Strong experience in People/HR roles (HR Generalist / People Ops / HR Manager), ideally in a scale-up or early-stage business where you have built out processes.
- Proven ability to create structure in chaos: you’ve designed and implemented practical systems that leaders and employees actually adopt.
- Working knowledge of UK employment law and the realities of US employment frameworks (e.g. at-will employment, benefits complexity, state-level variance), with the judgement to know when to involve external counsel.
- Experience building people processes that work for a transatlantic, and globally distributed team without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Exposure to early-stage growth and scale-up phases (rapid hiring and evolving org structure).
- Exceptional communication: you write with clarity, and understand the importance of eliminating confusion in a high-performance culture.
- Strong judgement and discretion - trusted with sensitive information and able to act fairly under pressure.
- Comfort operating with autonomy: you prioritise ruthlessly, execute fast, and don’t need constant direction.
- A practical, low-ego style: you can challenge leaders constructively, hold boundaries, and be someone people want to work with.
We’re committed to building a diverse team and welcome people from all backgrounds to apply. If you’re excited about this role and our mission but aren’t sure you meet every qualification, reach out anyway. You may be just the right candidate.
