We’re a growing IT reuse and refurbishment business helping companies across the UK securely recycle, refurbish, and repurpose technology. We’re looking for a reliable, practical person to join our small team in a varied role involving IT equipment testing, refurbishment, processing, and occasional customer collections using a company vehicle.
Most of your time will be spent at our facility processing and refurbishing equipment. Some days may involve multiple customer collections across the region, while other days will be entirely workshop-based. Although every week is slightly different, much of the role involves following structured processes, accurately recording equipment, and completing routine practical tasks to a consistently high standard. This is not a traditional desk-based IT support role. It is a hands-on operational position for someone who enjoys working directly with physical IT equipment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Testing and refurbishing laptops, desktops, servers, and other IT equipment
- Recording serial numbers, specifications, condition grades, and test results accurately
- Using internal systems, spreadsheets, CRM, or stock-management software
- Preparing equipment for reuse, resale, recycling, or secure disposal
- Organising, tracking, and storing incoming equipment
- Following company procedures to maintain full equipment traceability
- Carrying out occasional customer collections using a company long-wheelbase van
- Loading, securing, unloading, and moving IT equipment safely
- Providing friendly and professional customer service at client sites
- Helping to keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe
- Supporting the wider team with general workshop and operational duties where required
What We’re Looking For
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Comfortable and confident driving a long-wheelbase van
- Comfortable lifting and moving IT equipment safely
- Basic IT hardware knowledge or a genuine interest in technology
- Reliable, organised, and methodical approach to work
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Willingness to follow structured processes consistently
- Experience using spreadsheets, CRM systems, stock systems, or similar software is beneficial but not essential
Full training will be provided on enterprise equipment, refurbishment standards, and our internal systems. We care more about reliability, attitude, ownership, and willingness to learn than experience with every type of equipment.
This role suits someone who:
- enjoys practical, hands-on work
- is comfortable with routine and repetitive tasks
- takes ownership of their work
- follows instructions and processes carefully
- maintains a positive attitude when completing less technical tasks
- is happy to help wherever required
- wants a stable, long-term role within a small business
We are a small team, so everyone is expected to muck in. The role includes housekeeping, loading and unloading, tidying, sweeping, and general workshop duties alongside technical work. No task is considered beneath anyone — whether that means testing an enterprise server or sweeping the workshop floor at the end of the day. This position is best suited to someone genuinely interested in a long-term practical IT refurbishment role, rather than someone looking for a short-term stepping stone into a different IT career.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
- Collection schedules may occasionally require earlier starts, later finishes, or overtime. Any overtime will be agreed in advance and offered as paid overtime or time off in lieu.
- There is no weekend work and no on-call requirement.
- Stable Monday-to-Friday working hours
- No weekend or on-call work
- Small, friendly team environment
- On-the-job training and skill development
- Staff discounts on refurbished technology
- Free on-site parking
- Overtime opportunities, paid or taken as time off in lieu
- Opportunity to grow with the business
- The chance to contribute to sustainability, reuse, and the reduction of electronic waste
Important
Due to company vehicle insurance requirements, applicants must currently be aged 25 or over. To demonstrate attention to detail, please include the word “Refurb” in your application. If you’re reliable, practical, comfortable with routine work, and enjoy getting stuck in with technology, we’d like to hear from you.
