Are you a dedicated Groundsperson with a passion for maintaining and enhancing sports fields? Chappell Enterprises UK is recruiting on behalf of our client, a prestigious independent school, seeking a proactive and skilled Groundsperson to join their Estates Team. Please note: A full UK Driving Licence is required for you to be considered for this position.

About Our Client

Our client is a leading independent co-educational day school located in a pleasant and leafy suburb of Ealing. The school has a 14-acre sports field with multiple pitches, a pavilion, and various sports amenities.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the sports field and landscaped areas to high standards.
  • Set up sports pitches and undertake minor construction and landscaping work.
  • Drive and maintain vehicles and equipment used for grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure safe use, storage, and disposal of pesticides and other substances.
  • Promote health and safety within the team and respond to emergencies.
  • Facilitate training sessions, games lessons, and fixtures.

Requirements

Essential:
  • Proven experience in maintaining sports grounds and providing high-quality sports surfaces.
  • Experience operating and maintaining sports ground machinery and equipment.
  • Physically fit and able to work at heights.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.
Desirable:
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., NVQ, SVQ, GMA Technical Certificate).
  • Experience in maintaining cricket squares and pitches.
  • Familiarity with irrigation and drainage systems.
